 Adventurous Training with Hampshire & Isle of Wight - Army Cadet Force

To complement a Cadets military and citizenship training we off a variety of adventurous training activities. All of our activities are led by fully qualified instructors, all equipment is provided free of charge. Our aim is to offer a range of exciting and challenging activities in a safe and controlled environment.
Cadets currently have the opportunity to participate in the following activities:- |

Rock Climbing & Abseiling
Thanks to funding from the Army and through a charitable donation we have our own mobile climbing tower which enables Cadets to experience the challenges of scaling a ‘rock’ wall without the need to travel to the mountains or other sites.
We are keen to encourage those that wish to develop their climbing skills and wherever possible will provide greater challenges and the opportunity to climb on sea cliffs or mountain crags again under close supervision from experienced and qualified instructors.

Mountain Walking
We run regular trips to Snowdonia, and Scotland enabling our cadets to enjoy a full day in the mountains conquering peaks such as Cairngorm and Snowdon.
Groups are led by a qualified mountain leader and an assistant with a maximum ratio of 1 qualified instructor to 5 cadets.

Mountain Biking
Mountain Biking is another of our core activities and takes place during Annual camp and during or annual adventurous training expedition.
The County ACF has its own fleet of modern well maintained mountain bikes

Kayaking
We often have the opportunity to teach basic kayaking skills at Annual Camp. Sheltered water Kayaking is also a part of the annual Expedition.
We have our own fleet of modern well equipped kayaks and safety equipment

Watermanship
Although Watermanship is not technically classed as an “Adventurous Training” activity, basic Watermanship skills are taught by our qualified staff as part of the “package” at most Annual Camps.
