Cpl’s Sugrue-Gee and Standon receive deserved promotion
During the weekend of 12-14 February, B Company descended on Browndown Camp in Gosport for a Company weekend. Each star group was represented, with successful testing done at BTC, 1 and2 Star levels
The 3 star/senior cadet group had the added advantage of Maj Wake whose valuable insight on the 3 star board and testing at 3 Star was passed to cadets, they now know what’s expected. With continued training the cadets should be fully prepared for the annual camp 3 star board
The weather was kind to us, although the cold wind brought in from the south seaward side was worthy in a Scottish Highland Glen in mid winter, the cadets quickly realised that, when told to bring ‘warm’ clothes and gloves, how valuable they are in that situation
A few deserved promotions were carried out by OC along with the 1 Btn Commander Lt Col Dawes. From CPL to Sgt’s Sugrue-Gee and Standon after the parade they then joined Sgt’s Thompson and Gibson for the journey to Bicester for the SCIC. It has been some years since B Company has sent this amount of cadets to an SCIC so a big thank you to all the adults that have prepared these cadets. Let’s hope all the hard work pays off and they all come back with a good result.
Saturday evening saw the cadets having a Valentines disco on camp. This allowed the cadets to let there hair down after a busy Saturday, therefore fully charged for the testing on the Sunday morning.
We left Browndown on the Sunday not really knowing if we will ever see it again, as it’s being mothballed on 01 April, a sad loss to a fine camp which is great for cadet training.
I would like to take this opportunity to say thanks again, to all adults who attended the weekend and worked hard to ensure the cadets had a fun and safe time.
